Read on to find out more about volunteering – directly from our volunteers themselves.

My name is David, and I have been volunteering at TouchBase Glasgow as a Café Helper since September 2025.
Prior to this role, I was a primary school teacher for over 40 years, working with the Service Children’s Education (SCE) authority overseas in Germany, Cyprus, and Brunei, teaching the children of the military and civilian forces.
I had been looking out for a volunteering opportunity for some time when I was made aware of this available position at Sense Scotland. In my role, I help Sharon, our Catering Assistant, in any way possible. Sharon is a great ambassador for Sense Scotland, with dedication and pride in what she does.
There is a real palpable positive atmosphere at TouchBase Glasgow and, since starting here, I have enjoyed having to rethink how I may communicate with the people Sense Scotland supports. Not to mention my counting skills, which have greatly improved!
If you’re thinking about volunteering at Sense Scotland, then have a go – fully immerse yourself in whatever role you choose, and embrace each opportunity as a gift.
