The Glasgow Family Forum was set up in 2015 following the closure of Newark Drive respite centre to ensure families were involved and consulted about future changes to services. The Forum is run by parents and carers for parents and carers. The current committee members are Marie McGinn and Ann Kirkwood.
The forum, covering Glasgow and surrounding local authorities, has three main aims. These are to:
Before the pandemic, meetings were held regularly (usually monthly) in TouchBase Glasgow. Any parents or family members who wished to attend were welcome. During the pandemic meetings have been held online. The agenda is driven by parents and family members. If anyone has an issue they wish to discuss they can request that it be put on the agenda. We hope to return to face-to-face meetings as soon as possible.
The family forum needs members to function effectively and to fulfil the aims outlined above.
If you are interested in being involved with the forum or receiving communications such as agendas, minutes and other relevant information, please email the committee.
