Small Donations

Big Impact

For more than 40 years, you have been helping to make a difference to children and adults who are deafblind or live with a complex disability. We thank every one of you, our supporters, for your kindness and generosity.

Our Promises

Sense Scotland was founded by families, and our family values of openness, honesty and respect underpin the foundations of Sense Scotland and span all our activities.Ā

As such, we promise to:

  • Treat every supporter with respect, dignity and understanding. We want you to feel inspired, delighted and happy to support us. To that end, you have our utmost respect.
  • Not share your details with anyone else. We will not exchange, sell or pass your details to third-party organisations for marketing purposes. We use other companies to provide services on our behalf, including delivering post, analysing data and processing credit card payments. We will only provide those companies with the information they need, and we make sure that your data is treated with the same level of care as if we were handling it directly, and they will not swap, sell or share your details for any reason. For more information on how we collect, store and use your data, read our privacy notice.
  • Respect you and your choices. We won’t ever put undue pressure on you to make a donation to us. If you don’t want to make a donation or wish to cancel a committed donation, then we respect your decision.
  • Keep you updated about the vital work that you fund at Sense Scotland. We will do this via our regular newsletter, Loud and Clear; our letters; the occasional email; phone call; text; and of course, our website. You can also find us on Facebook.Ā If you have registered with the Telephone Preference Service, we won’t contact you unless you have given us your phone number and your permission for us to use it. We will call you to tell you what’s new and how you could help. It’s nice to speak to you now and again, but we’ll never call you excessively.Ā If you would rather we didn’t contact you, get in touch with us and we’d be happy to oblige.
  • Fully support you in all your fundraising endeavours. Be it jumping from the Forth Rail Bridge or a bake sale, we promise you posters, sponsor forms and our admiration!
  • Celebrate your success and thank you appropriately – unless of course you tell us not to! Not everyone wants a thank you, but we think it’s nice, right and proper. A letter, card or phone call will wing its way on receipt of your donation. If you don’t want to receive an acknowledgement, then we wholly respect your wishes, but thank you in advance.
  • Monitor our activity. On occasions, we may use a fundraising agency or contractor. Our promise to you is that we regularly monitor any activity, ensuring that all suppliers and contractors comply with Sense Scotland’s values. We promise that they will work to our strict guidelines and offer you a quality experience.
  • Say sorry if we get it wrong! We hope we don’t ever get it wrong, but if we do, then we will do everything we can to sort it out.
  • Never conduct door-to-door fundraising activities. If you are contacted in person by someone claiming to be from Sense Scotland for fundraising purposes at your home, please do not hand over any financial details. Please get in touch to report any fraudulent activity.

Making a Donation

When making a website payment, we will process your card details and contact information securely using Stripe, our secure payment gateway. No payment information is stored on the web server. Your basic contact details are only stored for 24 hours and then deleted.

Our donors can support us by making donations in a number of different ways:

  • By cheque
  • Cash
  • Over the phone card payments
  • Online donations via our website
  • Contactless unstaffed donation terminals
  • Face-to-face contactless transaction platforms, including SumUp and Barclays terminals

It is important that our donors understand the fees associated with our contactless donation platforms:

  • SumUp: 1.69% per transaction
  • GoodBox: 1.59% + 10p per transaction
  • Barclays: 1.6% per transaction
