I’ve now been working at Sense Scotland for almost two years, and I’m a lot more confident in my abilities as a Support Practitioner. I’ve gained new skills that I can use not just at work but also in my daily life.

Helping to support people in their own homes and out in the community is very rewarding. Getting to take them out to do fun things and see them happy makes a difference to their lives.

We have an attitude that enables people to work well together with adaptability and strong communication, empathy and mutual respect. It's all about trust, always being genuine and inspiring to think big or small to improve all we can for each individual.

Given time and trust, the connection you get with others is phenomenal. People I work with everyday have instilled in me a value and meaning to the job and I truly believe they have made me a better person to this day.

Being an immigrant from Nigeria, it is not always easy to fit into a new country or job. I was introduced to Sense Scotland by a friend and the warm welcome I received from the manager was tremendous. I instantly fell in love with the job, and it gave me instant hope and relief.

The people I support in my service have learning disabilities, deafness, blindness, autism and epilepsy. Being able to make their lives much easier and encouraging them to reach their goals makes my job worth it.
