Executive Team

Angela Bonomy
Chief Executive Officer

Angela joined Sense Scotland in September 2019 and was appointed Chief Executive Officer in April 2022. 

Angela is a law graduate and has experience of working in the public, private and third sectors. After graduating, she moved to Nottingham for 10 years, working for Boots the Chemists in a variety of roles. She then returned to Scotland and worked for the NHS and Scottish Government, leading a lot of their sensory impairment work, before joining the National Deaf Children’s Society as Scotland and Northern Ireland Director.

Angela also holds a number of Board and voluntary positions.

Brian Murphy
Director of Operations

Brian has been with Sense Scotland since December 2014. 

An experienced, values driven senior manager with 40 years of experience in the care sector having worked at all levels of accountability and with a range of diverse care groups. He has worked in all sectors including health, social work, voluntary and private organisations.

His initial qualification was as a Registered Nurse Mental Handicap and went on to complete a BSc Honours and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management.

He has a proven track record managing and developing new services as well as working with others to redesign services around the individual needs and aspirations.  

He has responsibility for Operational Services in Sense Scotland including Supported Living, Day Opportunities and Respite. He is also responsible for Safeguarding, Health and Safety, and Data Protection.

David Donnelly
Director of Finance

David has been with Sense Scotland since September 2019. 

David is a graduate of Glasgow University and a qualified accountant.

David has spent most of his career in the textile industry in various financial and general management positions. David had never previously worked in the third sector

He has lived and worked in France for 10 years and 2 years in Germany.

Last position prior to joining Sense Scotland was with the Watches of Switzerland group.

David is responsible for the Finance and ICT teams at Sense Scotland.

Joanne O'Donnell
Director of Planning, Development & Engagement

Joanne joined Sense Scotland in November 2020 and was appointed Director of Planning, Development and Engagement in July 2022.

Joanne is an Arts graduate and also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Primary Education. She began her career working in carers centres and then spent several years working in Education before moving into Health Improvement.

She returned to the third sector to lead the introduction of an early years programme for the National Deaf Children’s Society. During her time there, Joanne held various positions but was latterly Depute Director of Operations Scotland and Northern Ireland.

At Sense Scotland, Joanne’s responsibilities include our Charitable Services, externally funded programmes, business development, administration, facilities and communications.
