Fair Work Statement

Sense Scotland is committed to the Scottish Government’s Fair Work First policy. This means that we:

  • Pay at least the real Living Wage
  • Provide channels for workers to use their voices:
    • We have a voluntary recognition agreement with a trade union
    • We are currently undertaking a review of our Staff Partnership Forum in order to strengthen it
    • We regularly keep our staff updated about the Effective Voice Project, which seeks to understand and improve how staff are listened to by their social care employer
  • Avoid zero-hour contracts
  • Offer flexible working arrangements for all workers from day one of employment
  • Oppose the use of ‘fire and rehire’ – this means dismissing workers and rehiring them on different terms, such as lower pay
  • Address workplace inequalities – including pay and employment gaps for marginalised workers
