Our free advisory service is at the heart of Sense Scotland and is often the first point of contact for disabled people and their families.
Our family advisors cover the whole of Scotland and offer support from pre-birth. We can provide you and your family with benefits advice, representation and how to cope with the transitions of life. Or maybe you just need someone at the end of the phone? We are also happy to arrange a home visit at a time that suits you.
We can offer support and advice with:
Identifying services and resources to suit your needs.
Helping you with the jargon – for example Personalisation and Self Directed Support
Looking at how to help with vision, hearing, mobility and learning.
Giving advice on learning and personal care.
Helping with communication and difficult behaviour.
Ensuring professionals are advised on the impact of communication support needs on the help you or your relative require.
Putting families and carers in touch with other families and professionals.
Accompanying you to formal meetings.
Answering your questions and concerns about education.
