Play
We provide online and face-to-face play sessions for families. These sessions can be delivered one-to-one or in a group setting. The sessions contain fun, interactive activities to support learning and develop communication. Come along to the next play session.
Home activities
At Sense Scotland, we use activities and play to communicate with children, discover their ideas and explain what’s going on. This section is designed to give you a wealth of activities and ideas to encourage you and the ones you love to ‘Be Well, Be Creative and Be Playful’ at home. Get the glitter and glue out and see what you can make. See our Home Activities Section for more.
Peer support
We organise events including coffee mornings, toddler groups and ‘walk and talk’ sessions to enable parents and carers to meet, share their experiences and support each other. During school holidays, we also offer a programme of activities for the whole family including siblings.
Toy Library
We are currently developing our toy library catalogue. Get in touch with the team for more information.
Courses
We deliver courses for families and professionals working with children with complex and sensory disabilities. Our courses include an introduction to communication, using art to develop communication and creating a sensory room. Find out when and where the next course will take place.
Volunteer with us
The Early Years Team are always looking for volunteers to help out at events or to support the Toy Library. If you could spare some time, please get in touch. We are always keen to hear from parents and carers too.
Maybe you’re the parent of a young person or adult with complex and sensory disabilities and would like to share your experiences with others at the start of their journey. If so, please get in touch.
Children’s Rights
In our work with children and families, we recognise and promote the rights of children as set out in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).
