We’re proud to offer inclusive volunteering opportunities for people with complex disabilities and communication needs, especially those who face the biggest barriers to taking part in community life and the workplace.
At Mecoco, our workshop and work processes are designed with accessibility and inclusion at the heart. As a charitable enterprise, we’re all about creating real opportunities and meaningful experiences through the work we do – and that includes our volunteers.

What to expect
One shift per week: morning (9:30am - 1pm) or afternoon (1:30pm - 4pm). We're flexible - if that feels like too long to focus, just chat with us about how to tailor your shift.
Your shift day will depend on when we have space - we'll let you know what's available if we offer you a place.

Support is welcome! If you need help to stay safe, complete tasks, or engage in the work, you'll need to come with your own support staff. We'll guide and advise, but we can't provide one-to-one support ourselves.

The workshop is wheelchair accessible, with an accessible toilet and disabled parking right outside.
There are tea and coffee facilities, and we always aim to create a friendly and respectful environment.
The tasks and processes are broken down, and bespoke tools enable participation at all levels.

Is this right for you?
This is a work experience opportunity. We’re here to make products that are sold to real customers, so the focus during your shift will be on preparing and packaging products – things like labelling, stamping, and packing.
While we encourage social interaction and love seeing friendships form, it’s important to know that this isn’t a social club. If you're looking for a workplace-style experience, where you can contribute and be part of a purpose-driven team, you’ll fit right in.
Although we make candles, the actual pouring is a small part of our process, and most volunteers will be involved in other important parts of production.

How long can I volunteer for?
There may be a time limit on your placement. We want to offer this opportunity to as many people as possible, so we may need to rotate spaces as demand grows.
We’re also planning to introduce ASDAN Award accreditation so that your participation and achievements can be recognised with a nationally respected award.
