Well done to two of our staff members who completed the Edinburgh Night Cycle to raise funds for our One Giant Leap programme but it wasn’t an easy ride.
Margaret McKenzine, One Giant Leap Project Manager and Erin Leggate, Community and Events Fundraiser, completed the 50 mile bike ride which was a times in pitch black conditions.
The route was via Arthur’s Seat, Leith Docks, Forth Road Bridge, Ratho, Gogar and the final hurdle took them to Edinburgh Castle where they had to navigate the bumpy terrain of the Royal Mile cobblestones and steer away from the perilous potholes.
Margaret said: “I would never have thought to sign up to a 50 mile cycle! But while cycling along the waterside, being able to see the sun setting and the Forth Rail Bridge in the background.”
Erin added:”If I hadn’t agreed to the challenge we would never have got to see this and so many of the quaint village type areas tucked into such an illustrious city.”
Worth the ride
Margaret and Erin would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported them, raising over £400.
When asked if they plan to repeat the experience, Margaret said: ‘We’ll maybe undertake this again but during day this time to avoid invisible pot holes”.
