Hardest Hit

People speak out against the cuts

Hardest Hit Scotland is a coalition of Scottish disability charities urging disabled people to contact their MPs and tell them how the cuts have affected them. The charities lead the Scottish arm of the Hardest Hit Week of Action, which saw thousands of disabled people making their voices heard across the UK.

Watch the Hardest Hit Film: Personal stories of those affected by welfare reforms

Disabled Scots worried about the UK Government’s Welfare cuts have created a unique film to record their fears. The film features the personal stories of those who are hardest hit by the welfare reform. In their own words, contributors provide powerful testimonies of how their lives will be affected by the UK Government’s cuts.

You can also read a transcript of the full film here.

A parent’s view

Jacqueline Thomson, whose daughter is supported by Sense Scotland and is disabled herself, spoke at the Hardest Hit Coalition fringe meeting at the Scottish Liberal Democrat annual conference 2012. She spoke with great clarity about the effects of welfare reforms on people with disabilities, based on her own experiences. You can read her speech here.
