Sense Scotland win The National Lottery Awards

Matthew shines at BBC awards show

It has just been announced that Sense Scotland is the National Lottery Award winner 2011, in the Health category (in association with iVillage.co.uk).

BBC1 broadcast the Award ceremony live to millions of viewers, as representatives from the charity sat, in the audience, waiting for the announcement. Pamela Stephenson then revealed that Sense Scotland had won. Mairi Morrison, Sense Scotland's Head of Business Development, and Matthew Ward from Linwood, who uses our services received the award. Mairi said:

"It's an absolute honour to win this award and a real boost for everyone involved to receive national recognition for their hard work and dedication. Lottery funding has been absolutely crucial to Sense Scotland."

Matthew was delighted to receive the award on behalf of Sense Scotland:

"Thanks to National Lottery Funding, you've really made Sense Scotland a fantastic place to be!"

As well as getting national recognition at the star-studded award ceremony Sense Scotland receives a £2,000 cash prize to spend on their project. The National Lottery Awards are the annual search to find the UK's favourite Lottery-funded projects and to celebrate the difference that these organisations make to local communities.

Andy Kerr the Chief Executive Officer for Sense Scotland is full of praise for the National Lottery Awards:

"Sense Scotland has benefited from National Lottery funding in many, many ways. It has supported our work to enable disabled people of all ages, to explore the world through arts, drama and music. It has allowed people get out and about into the wider community and to meet and make new friends.
