OGL allotment Doors Open Day

20 September 2016

Our One Giant Leap allotment opened it doors to show how the local community reaps the rewards of the great work that happens there.

Fun activities

We held lots of fun activities such as clay bomb making to help feed local wildlife and themed interactive story-telling, including everyone's favourite 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'.

The home cooking also went down a treat - all made with our very own fresh produce from the allotment and included home-made carrot cake and minestrone soup.

Visitors also enjoyed a performance from Bellahouston Academy Choir singing and the GAMH band, as well as a 'laughing yoga' demonstration while Momentum charity also supported the school pupils to dig up some potatoes.

Great day was had by all

Our One Giant Leap team were also on hand to share information about the project and about volunteering opportunities.

Shereen Ryan, Project Practitioner said: "It's been a fab day and great to see the school pupils enjoying the hands-on experiences.

"It was also good to show the local community the great work that happens in our allotment."
