Supporting independence

During the 2006 - 2007 we provided new supported living services to 31 people, with many more agreed for the following years

Inverness

Having initially supported a number of people who moved from a long stay hospital into their own homes, we are supporting around 30 other people to make this move towards independence. Ian was part of the first group to move into his own home.

"I love it here," said Ian.

It's a big move for Ian but he's up for the challenge of looking after his home and learning new skills.

"Sometimes I make my own tea at night, all by myself," he added.

Support worker Simon is delighted at the progress Ian has made in his new life, living independently.

"You should be very proud of yourself," he said to Ian. "...because the things you've done in such a short time are remarkable."
