Advisory Services

The Advisory service are usually the first point of contact in Sense Scotland for any family who are seeking information or advice on a family member who has severe sensory impairment. The service also plays a principal liaison role with the professional staff of other agencies who request advice in the interests of a service user. There are three Family Advisors, based in the East, North and West of Scotland.

Advisory services can help people by:

  • Providing information and advice.
  • Identifying services and resources.
  • Looking at how to help with vision, hearing, mobility and learning.
  • Giving advice on learning and personal care.
  • Helping with communication and difficult behaviour.
  • Putting families and carers in touch with other families and professionals.
  • Advisory also help with questions or concerns about education.

Mum Mary said:

"It's great knowing that there is someone at the end of the phone to speak to and someone to ask about information."

Parents Sandra and Tony said:

"Advisory services have given us the confidence to help get our daughter Toni's education issues resolved."
