In Our Own Voices: Leaving New Craigs
24th November - 4th December 2009
Centre for Health Science, Old Perth Road, Inverness, IV2 3JH
Sense Scotland was awarded a Heritage Lottery grant to preserve the life stories of former residents of a long stay hospital, who have moved into their own homes. A story gatherer was appointed to sensitively gather stories from people who have lived in the hospital settings, their families, friends and carers.
The exhibition explores social histories of people leaving one of the last long stay hospitals in Scotland, focusing on Craig Phadraig, Craig Dunain, and New Craigs Hospitals in Inverness.
Incorporating artworks and an interactive journey through aspects of life in long-stay hospital the exhibition will honour the lives and work of staff and service users.
As part of the exhibition three talks will be held:
