Sense Scotland Wins National Fundraising Award

Sense Scotland Fundraisers at the awards

Sense Scotland has been awarded the Best Local/ Regional Campaign Award at the Institute of Fundraising ('Institute') National Awards 2007 - the only awards designed for fundraisers by fundraisers. Hosted by BBC Breakfast's Chris Hollins at the Hilton London Metropole (Edgware Road) on Monday 9 July 2007, the Awards were presented by a selection of the most influential people in fundraising.

The National Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of both professional and volunteer fundraisers, and winners have been drawn from across the voluntary sector, representing a wide variety of campaigns and causes. Each category is reviewed against the best practice standards for UK fundraisers; the Codes of Fundraising Practice. The National Awards are sponsored by Dataforce Charities with ThirdSectorJobs.co.uk as the media partner.

Our Making It Happen campaign was recognised as the best campaign conducted by any regional charity, or a branch of a national charity or charities with fundraised income of less than £2m a year excluding legacies.

Presenting the Award, Alison Parker of the Royal Horticultural Society, said:

"The successful entrant of this year's award decided to skill-up existing staff members and fundraise internally for a new resource centre for service users and combined head office, rather than hire in help or wait to set up an appeal committee. Actual results exceeded all objectives with three and a half times over the original target raised"

Commenting on the Award Gillian Morbey, Sense Scotland’s Chief Executive said:

"Winning this award for TouchBase fundraising campaign is a fantastic achievement for the fundraising team. The team have worked hard to not only achieve but also surpass initial targets and we look forward to seeing the people we work with enjoy this wonderful resource, made possible by the generous support of so many Trusts, companies and individual donors.

This Award was for raising money for the initial phases of constructing the building of TouchBase. We still require additional funding for fully equipping the centre and completion of additional construction. We shall be trying to find ways of raising that money."
