Exhibitions and arts events for 2010 at TouchBase
To a Bard: 29th January, 1:30pm TouchBase Café. To celebrate the life of Robbie Burns in this 250th anniversary year; Paragon, Sense Scotland and Artform will showcase musical excerpts from their recent production. Beautiful melodies and songs will take you on a musical, poetic and dramatic journey through the life and times of the great Bard!
‘BY WORD OF SIGN’, public exhibition: 5th February – 12th April. A site specific presentation of objects, images, text and videos. Produced by Artist in Residency John Shankie and some of the disabled artists he worked with in sessions, the pieces will reflect collaborative work, collaborative play, collision, collusion and togetherness.
The International Outsider Art BIENNALE, part of The Glasgow International Festival: 16th April – 29th May. An exhibition of over 20 international artists with disabilities from 7 European countries. “Outsider Art Biennale shows that art is communication.” Richard Sangwill. Presented in association with Project Ability.
UNESCO Showdown! Friday 11th June 3pm – 6pm. To celebrate Glasgow’s status as a ‘UNESCO creative city’ and TouchBase as a vibrant and accessible music venue, Showdown will be a musical event open to everyone. Join a celebration of Glasgow’s musical diversity, bring along your drums and make some noise! In association with UNESCO a creative city of music.
Sensing Outdoors: 1st June – 7th September. An exhibition collecting together work, inspired by people’s experiences in the outdoors. Celebrating five years of collaboration between Sense Scotland service users, our Arts and Outdoor teams.
