"High above the world three sisters sit. Bored and mischievous they begin to play..."
Enchanted Lands tells the strange story of a young man's journey through a wonderful and sinister world. At the mercy of three otherworldly sisters our young hero is a pawn in a game of fate played out in a strange land. Facing three tasks the young man must muster courage, intelligence and self-reliance to overcome his predicament and discover who he really is. Developed in partnership with Sense Scotland and Dance Ihayami, "Enchanted Lands" has been conceived and written by an ensemble including Sense Scotland support staff and a group of disabled performers.
The group set out to explore the nature of the dramatic arts and the benefits for the participants have been in the development of confidence, communication and friendships. The play uses no text or script. Taking inspiration from storytelling, popular culture and classical Indian dance, the story is told using movement, sound, colour and light exploring issues and themes in creative and exhilarating ways.
This project is part of Found in Translation, a Sense Scotland cultural diversity project supported by the Scottish Arts Council and Glasgow City Council. The project has also been supported through Dance Ihayami's Big Lottery Fund outreach programme.
