Sense Scotland 'Cross-Britain Cycle'
Team aims to raise thousands for young peoples' holiday
Sense Scotland staff Nicky Watson, Joe Gibson and Shaun Bryden are preparing for the challenge of their lives. They are cycling the entire length of the UK, to fundraise for our holiday programme for children and young people.
The team sets off from Lands End on Sunday 21st May and we're hoping people will help us achieve our goal by supporting the team on this exciting journey," explained Nicky. "We'll live in a motor-home during the challenge and aim to finish the cycle in 12 days. People can sponsor us or join us at stages to help raise as much as possible."
Three ways to get involved and raise funds for the Sense Scotland holiday:
- sponsor the Sense Scotland cycle team on their cross UK challenge
- get your own sponsors and join the team on Monday 29th May for a 22 mile cycle from Glasgow to Balloch
- get your own sponsors and join the Balloch Funday on Monday 29th May and cycle as little or as much as you want
Scottish route and schedule:
- Sunday 28th May - 80 miles from Lockerbie to Glasgow
- Monday the 29th May (Bank Holiday) - 60 miles from Glasgow to Killin, with opportunities for supporters to get involved; starts at 10 am from Glasgow with 22 miles on cycle paths to Balloch
- Tuesday 30th - a scenic 80 miles from Killin to Newtonmore
- Wednesday 31st - 70 miles from Newtonmore through Inverness to Brora
- Thursday 1st of June - sees the end of the journey with the cyclists arriving at John O'Groats after a final 60 miles push from Brora
