Shortlist announced at Helen Keller International Award launch
The 8th Helen Keller International Award, which has just started at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and TouchBase in Kinning Park has just revealed its shortlisted artists. The winning work will be announced at an awards ceremony on Saturday 18th April. Run by Sense Scotland, the exhibition features art that aims to challenge perceptions of deafblindness and sensory impairment. This award has attracted entries from across the world, including the USA, the Netherlands, Slovakia, New Zealand and the UK.

explained Gillian Morbey, Chief Executive of Sense Scotland,"The work at the exhibition offers a wonderful display of creativity and ideas."
The shortlisted artists for the main prize are:
- Portrait 24 - (acrylic painting) by Jean Compton (Scotland)
- Sight Unseen - (textured paint on paper) by Rich Curtis (USA)
- Dummy Jim - (interactive website) by Matt Hulse (Scotland)
- Seed - (mixed media sculpture) by Petre Nikoloski (England)
- The Conversation - (film) by Claire Wheeldon (England)
- Stella Uno - (light installation) by Deon Winter (England)
The shortlisted artists for under 16 years category prize are:
- Sense of Nature - (mixed media with natural materials) by Chelsea Louise Payne (England)
- Tactile Painting - (painted canvas) by Children and Families group from Sense Scotland (Scotland)
- Medusa - (recycled material/found objects) by Shawlands Academy (Scotland)
- Technicolour Coat - (felt material) by Westfield School (Scotland)
