Activities

 

Fishing

Timescale:
20 mins - 1 hour
Materials:
  • Baby bath
  • Water and sheets of newspaper
  • Play tray or large bowl (or paddling pool, if outside)
  • Plastic creatures, frogs, fish etc
Step 1:
Put the bath onto sheets of newspaper on floor and fill with water
Step 2:
Add some food colouring and the creatures and get fishing.
Step 3:
See how quickly you can catch all the creatures and put them in a bucket.
Option 1:
Add gelatine or vegetarian alternative (eg agar-agar, xanthan) to the water.
Option 2:
Add the creatures and leave to set overnight before fishing.
Option 3:
Freeze plastic creatures in ice cubes or moulds, set them free as they melt in the water.

Please ensure that the materials you use are non-toxic.
