The Will to make a difference. One of our supporters recently told us that she has left a gift in her will to Sense Scotland. She wanted to leave something to help build a better future for deafblind children. She said:

"It's nice to feel that you will be remembered by people after your death. By leaving a gift to Sense Scotland I know that I am contributing towards their vision for the future of deafblind children."

How to leave a gift in your Will to Sense Scotland

A gift can be either a specific cash sum or an item of value such as jewellery, or a portion of the residue of the estate. This is part of the amount left over after bequests to friends and family have been made and all other affairs taken care of.

A gift expressed as a share or percentage can be valuable to Sense Scotland since it will not be eroded by inflation in the way that a cash sum is affected.

It may be that you have already made your Will. However, a Will can easily be changed at any time. Minor changes can be made by a Codicil - a formal addition to a Will. If you have already made a Will, a Codicil is a good way to leave some money to charity.

Your Solicitor will help you write a Codicil to add a charitable bequest to your Will.

Making or changing a Will should always be done in consultation with a solicitor.
