Why your support is so valuable

Picture of children at a Sense Scotland party We rely a great deal on the generosity of the general public to continue much of our work. You can help us make a difference in peoples' lives in a number of ways.

Children like Daniel benefit so much from the adventure of playing with sensory toys in a safe and FUN environment

Daniel loves the sensory room at Sense Scotland's centre TouchBase; but, this resource is only possible because of the continuing generosity of our fantastic supporters.

It is only with the help of our much valued supporters that we can give more deafblind and disabled children and adults the opportunity of new experiences and have some much needed fun.

Legacies

Sense Scotland raises much-needed funds to help develop services for severely disabled children and adults, and their families. This comes from a variety of sources including companies, charitable trusts and charity shops. We are also extremely fortunate in having ongoing support from a number of individuals, many of whom now make regular monthly payments to us by direct debits or standing orders.

We employ our own staff to raise money and to manage it. Sometimes it makes better sense for us to use a fundraising agency, for instance for one-off or occasional tasks like identifying new regular monthly supporters. For this we pay a set fee to the agency and all income received is paid directly into our bank account by the supporters.

Sense Scotland is an active member of the Institute of Fundraising in Scotland, who produce a series of guidelines concerning fundraising practice, ethics and fundraising costs.
