Giving direct from your pay is tax free and helps Sense Scotland make better plans for the future! Currently the government is also adding an extra 10% to every gift you make. That means that if you pledge £10 from your gross salary each month, it will only cost you £7.80, but Sense Scotland gets £11 thanks to the taxman and the government's extra 10%.
Anyone can join the Give As You Earn scheme if your salary or pension is taxed through PAYE and your employer offers a scheme. You can give in one of three ways:
- Direct Donation
- CharityCard
- Staff Charity Fund
This allows you to personally nominate Sense Scotland to benefit from regular donations - straight from your pay.
For more flexibility you can open your own CharityCard account. You receive your own charity chequebook so that you can make donations whenever you like. You can also set up standing orders and give online with this option but you must pledge to give at least £10 per month. For more information please visit the CharityCard website.
You can also pool your donations with your colleagues in a Staff Charity Fund. The representatives you select will then distribute that money to Sense.
