Arts and communication course

Friday 24 March 2017, TouchBase Glasgow

More Than Words. A one-day training course exploring creativity and meaning making with people who have profound and complex communication support needs.

Arts course 350x266

"We live our lives by telling stories."

At Sense Scotland, we are experts in exploring and discovering communication opportunities that are unique to individuals. Having worked for 30 years supporting people who are deafblind, sensory impaired or who have communication support needs, we have learned that communication is a dynamic, free-flowing process in which all parties share equal responsibility.

We have brought our knowledge into a training course that explores how human beings communicate and   help each other to build shared experiences and stories. The course will offer a wide range of techniques and tips for creating a successful communicative environment and will balance current theories with practical examples. The day will be a mixture of conversation, practice, video analysis and fresh thinking designed to help establish meaningful and enriched communicative partnerships.

"In my job as a teacher, I communicate across a wide range of abilities. I was having difficulty with balancing the time I spend with people in need of support and people in need of development. This course introduced me to new techniques that have changed the classroom into a thriving communicative environment where we share and help each other to achieve our individual potential"
