Narrative for animation film of TouchBase
Welcome to our short animation film showing an artist's impression of the inside of TouchBase. We are transforming the inside of an old warehouse to build this new resource centre in Glasgow. In the centre of the development is a courtyard and rooms run round all four sides. The short film gives us a brief virtual tour of the courtyard, playroom and art rooms. There is no sound to the film.
Courtyard
We start off looking down on the courtyard in the centre of TouchBase. On the right are the blue walls of the family suite, and running from top to bottom, are the windows of two staff offices, then the two double French doors of the family lounge which open out into the courtyard.
We then head round to the left looking over the white tables and blue, yellow and red chairs in the middle of the courtyard with the café servery at the rear. The rear wall of the café servery has a large blue handprint painted on it.
The film shows sail-type hangings from the roof which aim to absorb some of the noise from the café and its surroundings.
There are two columns on the right hand side, painted blue with white tops, supporting the roof just in front of the family suite.
White is used for the inside of the roof and most of the walls. The skirting is blue, as are the door surrounds, and the doors are beech.
The flooring is shown as a mix of wood effect in the café area and in front of the family suite walls. A walkway is formed using plain beige flooring around the café.
At the right, middle and left edges of the café are short balustrades, shown here as waist height blue railings with wooden banisters. These separate the café area from other small easy seating areas and the walkways. We hope to cover them in soft material to absorb sound. The two easy seating areas are shown with two seater couches and bucket chairs in red, yellow and blue.
Playroom
Next is the playroom. It is part of the family suite which runs along the north side of the building. We start with our backs to the French doors which open onto an outdoor play area. We can see the entrance to the room on the right. Moving upwards, still on the right, are two doors leading to spacious cupboards for toys and other equipment. There are some skittles and a toy trucks in front of these doors.
At the top of the room, a doorway leads directly to a personal care suite with shower and other comfort facilities which are not shown. A clock is on the wall.
On the left is a grey worktop with sink and white cupboards and drawers underneath. Further down the lefthand side are two windows looking onto the outdoor play area. One of these windows will be French doors in the finished playroom. Just underneath the windows, there are large and small balls, a rocking horse and a toy train.
The room is shown with grey carpet at the bottom and wooden effect flooring at the top. In the real playroom, we will have a turquoise carpet at the bottom and turquoise vinyl at the top. This will allow for some messy play. The walls are white with blue skirting and door surrounds, and beech doors. The slide does not show the ceiling hoist tracking. Nor does it show the mirrored wall which is at the bottom of the real playroom.
Arts suite
Next is the arts suite showing two art rooms. This is on the south side of the building. We start off in the arts and crafts room and head into the visual art room via the connecting doorway which is very wide indeed. Similar to other rooms, the walls are painted white, the skirting is blue and the doors beech. The connecting doorway is made up of white sliding panels. On the right, at the far corner of the room, there is a set of double doors leading out onto the courtyard. These doors are surrounded by glazed panels or windows. We head into the room and turn to the left. In front of us are five artists' easels with paintings placed on them. The film shows four abstract multi-coloured paintings on the lefthand wall. At the far end of the room, from left to right there is a sink with shelves underneath, a set of shelves, a kiln for firing pottery and double doors leading to a large cupboard.
The film ends.
