CRS - Congenital Rubella Syndrome

CRS - Congenital Rubella Syndrome
Experiences from Scotland: Health and well-being - Can we measure it?

Linda Long and Paul Hart, Sense Scotland

Between October 30th - November 5th, 2005. Linda Long and Paul Hart represented Sense Scotland at a major international conference on Congenital Rubella Syndrome (CRS). There were participants from 13 countries and the conference was hosted by the Nordic Staff Development Centre (NUD) and took place in Ringsted, Denmark The conference was open for participants from non-Nordic countries.

We believe that the benefits of a healthy lifestyle should be open to all and this presentation emphasises that each unique person is important, no matter what medical labels or diagnoses they may have. Regardless of difficulties, each person deserves to be respected and to receive the necessary support required to develop their communication and to sustain friendships and relationships. Motivational interests and personal hobbies can be seen as a key as working to develop and achieve personal goals can provide individuals (as well as their support staff) with a sense of value, identity and purpose.
